Maximus von Monheim

Maximus von Monheim is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd with a happy, sweet and friendly spirit. He seemed to touch a chord with rescue people throughout the Central Valley. Everyone who knew about him said he was a perfect dog and needed to be saved.  When we had to wait for him to be released from the shelter, people were texting and calling to find out what we were waiting for; we hounded the shelter and finallt got him 2 days early. Then our intrepid volunteer drove through a storm where she had to have a police escort.  Now, we see what all the fuss was about. Maximus is so worth it! He loves people and is so happy to say hello that he might do a little jump.  He's a smart student who already knows his "sit" and "down" commands, and takes treats gently. Active and adventurous, he's the kind of pup you could take for hikes or beach jogs, and he does a great job walking alongside other dogs. Social and fun-loving, he shines in playgroups, where he mingles comfortably with both pups and staff, and he seems like he wants to play. (He's a no for cats.) Maximus will be a wonderful companion for a home ready to enjoy his sweet spirit and enjoyment of life.

Rescued from the Kern County animal shelter.
